The book includes the manufacture of phenol and 2,6,xylenol which is the starting material for
the production of PPO. This is followed by the detailed description of the polymerisation process. The compounding, processing, and properties of the polymer, its foams and its blends with other thermoplastics are thoroughly put forward. The properties are compared to those of most thermoplastics. Exercises in product design with PPO are given as well as the applications of the compounded polymer in various industrial sectors. The global producers of PPO along with their production capacities are tabulated. The book ends with a three year literature survey (2003-today), on technical and scientific developments (Synopsis of most publications and patents). |
